UP students failed to enroll for second semester of SY 2009-2010

“COOL ASEAN, GREEN CAPITALS” WILL FAIL, LIKEWISE: “Cool Asean, Green Capitals” maybe the latest attempt of government leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to combat global warming and climate change in the region, but it sure is going to be not the last.

This will certainly be followed by other similar high-sounding and savvy-laced programs and projects that will seek to address the devastation brought about by skyrocketing world temperatures and ever-increasing weather disturbances, all because this newest initiative is similarly bound to fail, following the example of earlier attempts.

Why am I saying that “Cool Asean, Green Capitals”, despite the optimism of its organizers led by Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra, will also fail?

THE PRIMARY SOLUTION TO GLOBAL WARMING IS GOD: Well, simply because it lacks the primary solution that is needed to abate global warming and avert climate change---which is, the solution coming from God and which, even at this point, is no longer a profound secret as it is already enshrined in the Bible.

If you ask me, the real problem now is world leaders and organizers like Paribata who refuse to recognize that global warming and climate change have very strong Biblical dimensions, and that the only way to address them is to learn what the Bible says is the solution to them.

In Deuteronomy 28:15, in relation to Deuteronomy 28:22-25 for instance, we are told of the following: first, that God’s curses will come upon and overtake us if we no longer listen to His Word and obey His commands, laws and decrees and that, second, among these curses would be scorching heat, drought, bronze skies, iron-like ground, rain of dust and powder.

ONE-THIRD OF UP STUDENTRY FAILED TO ENROLL FOR SECOND SEMESTER OF SY 2009-2010? The University of the Philippines must do something about the inability of about a third of its student population to re-enroll for the second semester of School Year 2009-2010.

According to officials, this failure to re-enroll of about a third of UP’s studentry for the remainder of this school year is affecting not just the Diliman campus, but even the other campuses comprising the UP System in the country.

I was told this came about not just because of a simple lack of money on the part of the students or their families to pay for their tuition fees or at least a part thereof to enable them to enroll.

University authorities, I understand, learned that the decision not to enroll for this semester arose from the realization by the students and their families that they will not be able to have the money to spend for their needs while the semester is on-going.

Many of these students, I was told, come from families whose means of livelihood were totally or substantially damaged by Ondoy, Pepeng and the rest of the weather disturbances that visited the country in the last two months.

FINDING OF THE CHILD JESUS AT THE TEMPLE: The fifth and the last Joyful Mystery of the Holy Rosary, called “finding of the Child Jesus at the Temple”, depicts the joy of the greatly-bothered Joseph and Mary upon finding the boy Jesus, then aged 12 years old, at the Temple in Jerusalem.

Basically, Jesus was left behind by his parents who, not knowing that Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, proceeded to return home after their family attended the Feast of the Passover (an annual Jewish holiday that seeks to remind the Jews of how God freed them from their slavery in Egypt).

Realizing that Jesus was not with them while they were returning home, Joseph and Mary spent three days going back to Jerusalem and searching for Him.

Found in Luke 2:41 to 51 of the Bible, the account of this event in Jesus’ life shows once more the divinity of Jesus, and His having been in possession of a great amount of learning over and beyond what a boy of His age would normally have.

“Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers,” the Bible says, in effect confirming Jesus was not an ordinary man.

And when He told Joseph and Mary that they should not be searching for Him because He had to be in His Father’s house, it was a reaffirmation of His status as the Son of God, something that was already announced earlier by Gabriel, the angel who walks in the presence of God (Luke 1:35).
